Rekindle Your Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood flooring is exquisite. There is one problem, however; it becomes apparent if the flooring is spotted, worn, or scratched. The only solution is to have your floors refinished by a flooring professional. Morency Flooring has been around since 1947 and will remain for decades to come. We’ll be careful to sand away your old finish without damaging your floor boards. We buff away imperfections with care so that the new finish can be applied the right way.

You may need to have your hardwood refinished if:

  • Deep scratches, pockmarks, or dull spots. These marks are more frequent in high-traffic areas such as entrances, hallways, and family rooms. Causes could be anything from high heels, moving furniture, or simply walking over an area too many times. Holes and scratches can become worse over time.
  • The floor is getting harder to clean and shine. The main predicament with holes and scratches is that they can collect dirt, dust, and grit. Not only will these particles wear down your floor faster, but they are also harder to clean up as they get caught in your flooring
  • Fails “Water Test”: An easy way to test your finish is to take a small cup of water and drop a few droplets onto your hardwood’s surface. Wait several seconds and take a look at the water. If the droplets soak in quickly, the finish should be replaced. If the water sits on the surface, your finish will probably be fine for a bit longer. You can repeat this test in various parts of the house for comparison.

Area rugs have been popular since the first cave men placed a saber-tooth tiger’s skin at the cave entrance to ward off predators. Flash forward to the Dark Ages all the way to the Renaissance, and area rugs came of age as castle dwellers used them for decoration, sound reduction, and thermal insulation, helping warm the stone cold floors. Woven rugs crafted during these periods are worth millions today. Rugs sold today hold an unusual investment potential. This is due to the fact that they continue to increase in value as they age. Rugs as young as fifty years old are worth a thousandfold their original market price; these rugs are an exception to the principle that an item must be at least a hundred years old to be considered an antique. Backed up by historical facts, rugs have always been considered a valuable asset. In buying area rugs, consider the rug as being more than simply a floor covering. It should be considered an investment purchase that increases in value as time passes. When one decorates with area rugs, consider purchasing your area rugs first and using that as the centerpiece in your vision.

Let me start this off by saying price and value are two completely different things. Price isn’t determined by value; it’s determined by the intersection of supply and demand. Value plays into that, by determining what the demand part is. Value is the perceived benefits received over the perceived price paid. When shopping for new carpet, keep in mind that buying the cheap stuff will usually (not always) end up with cheap-quality products. In other words, you get what you paid for. Value, however, can be a better quality product priced well below its worth. Value could be set at any price point. Shopping solely on price may cause the buyer to overlook other traits that add value to a product in terms of service, location, or comfort. "Value" is a much more complete word, whilst "price" is simply a component of value.
